What is
dynamic typesetting?
Between movable type and digital print, presses ran Linotype machines: keyboard in, cast lines out.
Keystrokes became mesne blocks of molten metal.
Casting late bought writers time. Faster iteration; faster news.
Now type must hold in pixels and print. Lists that bridge pages; context-aware graphics; layout as machine code. One command; the artist still owns every detail—
so the copyeditor trusts the page without watching the layout.
That is the experiment. The Fold first (safe, readable); pdf-fire under pressure; Nighthawk and Linen next.
A tribute to
This masterpiece by Kristian Möller of KTKM, Stockholm with Dicotype for NORD ID demonstrates it is still possible to surprise.
